About me
My name is Laura.
I was born in France, raised in Africa,
I passed the New York bar, but studied in Canada.
Am now a woman working in a men’s world,
And so be it.
I have never seen the box
Outside of which you’re supposed to think.
I could have been a dancer or a peacemaker.
I wanted to be a writer,
I became a lawyer.
Like an artist in a lawyer’s life,
Dressed in black, but thinking white,
Finding my own way in the office,
As if I were living my life,
Riding flying horses in the wind.
I believe in love
I believe in life
And I work in an office.
No, I can’t see the sky,
But I can feel it.
About The Peace & Law Project
“Be a happy lawyer, act for peace, live like an artist”
Peace & Law is a bridge
Between men and women,
Between reason and intuition,
Between reality and creativity,
Between you and me.
A place for you and me to be happy,
When your life is overloaded with responsibilities,
When little girls’ dreams are killed by daily cruelty,
When you have to choose between becoming a mother or a partner,
When you think you have passed exhaustion long ago,
When you desperately need to escape into creativity.
A place for you and me to heal
The secret wounds
Of howling souls
And be in peace
And dance in the sun, again.
A place where you can go and hide
Cry your sorrows
With loving hearts
And feel the love of life
And dance in the sun, again.
A place to create a life that makes you happy,
One that promotes peace,
And cherishes artists of all kinds.
A life that loves you
And makes me happy.
The Peace & Law Project comes from the firm belief that happiness deserves to sit at the table in Board meetings, and that obstacles to our happiness are grounded in our individual wounds and collective fears.
The Peace & Law Project comes from the hope that we will collectively embrace diversity. And that wherever is diversity, can emerge compassion and creativity. With compassion and creativity, healing can proceed. With healing comes peace, and with peace comes happiness.
Let’s be happy lawyers acting for peace and living creatively, fulfilling lives as artists.
